Last April 5th we put on our shoes, grabbed our paddle and went out to the court with a motivation that went far beyond sport: playing for a good cause. At United Barcode Systems we were very excited to celebrate our IV Paddle Charity Tournament, and the truth is… it was a real success! it was a real success! A morning full of sport, excitement, laughter, fellowship and, above all, solidarity.
From the first serve it was clear that it was going to be a special day. 14 pairs formed by UBS employees and partners gave their all on the court. There were intense points, spectacular plays and, of course, very good vibes. The competition was lived with enthusiasm, but always with that healthy, close and collaborative atmosphere that we love and that is already a trademark of the house.
As every year, we organize this event in collaboration with the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC). For us, working with them is not a one-time gesture, but a way of understanding our role as a company committed to people and society. Through our “Blue Minds” social responsibility program, we proudly support their daily work with patients, their families and in promoting research.
And for those who could not participate in the track, there was also a way to join in the spirit of solidarity of the event! Once again this year, we organized our traditional charity raffle, with lots of lovingly prepared prizes. It was the perfect occasion to contribute to the cause in another way, and thanks to all the people who participated, we managed to raise an amount that we donated entirely to the AECC.
This year, in addition, we lived a particularly emotional moment: who acted as “innocent hand” to draw the winning numbers was Silvia Perez, who works at the AECC. She took the opportunity to dedicate a few words full of gratitude. She thanked all of us-UBS as organizer, the participants, attendees and those who collaborated with the raffle-for making this type of initiative possible. It was a simple gesture, but with a lot of meaning, which reminded us why this tournament goes far beyond sports.
Yes, the games were great, but if anything excites us every year it’s what happens off the court: hugs, conversations, jokes, photos, reunions… that atmosphere that recharges you with energy and reminds you why we do this. Because in the end, beyond the sport, what moves us is to be together for something that really matters.
We cannot close without saying THANK YOU in capital letters. To those who played, to those who organized everything, to those who came to cheer, to those who bought their number for the raffle, to our partners for their constant support, and to the AECC for their tireless dedication. This would not be possible without you.
We leave with a thousand memories, a thousand smiles and the desire intact to continue organizing initiatives like this, which unite us and make us grow as a team.
