UBS, specialist in labeling, coding and marking, offers custom and quality labeling to ensure the product reaches its destination.
In any business, product labeling is vital, and logistics and distribution are no exception. Pallet labeling is the final traceability step before the product enters the distribution chain, so a reliable coding process that allows precise identification of each pallet is essential. Only in this way is it possible to have proper distribution logistics and guarantee its management arrival, as well as exact inventory control in finished product warehouses and distribution centers.
Pallet labeling requires suitable solutions adapted to the most demanding production line speeds. In this regard, United Barcode Systems (UBS), a company with 25 years of experience and proprietary printing and labeling technology, offers the most efficient solution for every need thanks to its in-house Print & Apply equipment: APL 38s, APL 8000 Series and APL 8000 ELV Series.
The Spanish Association of Commercial Coding (AECOC) advises tackling the technological challenges of traceability without losing sight of the main objective, which is nothing other than ensuring products reach consumers with full guarantees thanks to their tracking. A need that has become evident in recent years with globalization. And even more so in recent months, especially in sectors such as pharmaceuticals or food, which have seen increased logistics and distribution activity, in an emergency situation due to COVID-19.
To guarantee the traceability recommended by AECOC, UBS provides equipment based on Print & Apply technology for pallet labeling which, besides meeting speed requirements in each case, comply with the highest quality standards. Above all, they stand out for the adaptability of their physical configuration to any production line and their ability to integrate with the client’s ERP, two features that make a difference in a more competitive market context.
Technology for pallet labeling
UBS systems offer all labeling possibilities: one, two, or three sides, whether Europallets, universal pallets, half pallets, reassembled pallets, or variable heights. They are controlled by PLC, compatible with all OEM print engines on the market, and comply with GS1 standards for printing and applying GS1-128 barcode pallet labels, and with Application Identifier (AI) standards.
UBS Print & Apply equipment easily integrates thanks to UBS LabMan 4.0 software, compatible with any ERP, MES, WMS or DBMS system. Through this software, which allows identification of pallets from different lines, UBS equipment manages print queues and integrates and centralizes data with the client’s ERP to configure and generate labels for each logistic unit with all necessary information for proper storage, transport, and traceability. Furthermore, UBS printing and labeling systems are prepared for different application types, according to client requirements. Applicator arms or tamp pads can be equipped with rollers, sponges, or corner applicators, while label placement is done by direct or tamp application, blow, or the combination of both technologies (tamp blow).
Custom labeling solutions
Each sector and each company has its own needs and particularities. For this reason, UBS offers a winning trio, three devices based on the same printing and labeling system, but which allow more tailored solutions for each case.
APL 38s is UBS’s most manageable pallet labeling equipment. It is compact and small-sized, allowing easy integration at line ends, in medium and high volume industrial environments. It applies one or two labels per pallet at a speed of 180 pallets per hour with double label application.
APL 8000 Series prints and applies labels automatically and precisely on up to three sides of the pallet. Its telescopic adjustable height support with a Smart Tamp Pad, with label presence sensor and applied label detector, is compatible with irregular surfaces.
APL 8000 ELV Series is a unique machine in the market, with electronically controlled reduction motor and Smart Tamp Pad for intelligent label placement. It is UBS’s solution for labeling reassembled or variable height pallets automatically, as its elevator system allows high-speed operation (up to 138 reassembled pallets per hour with two-sided application per pallet) and precise real-time variable data handling, from 800 mm to 2,400 mm height.
