Last Monday, December 11, UBS Brazil decided to visit Lar Nossa Senhora das Graças, a home that is a refuge for elderly people who have known the darkness of abuse and violence.
This home, which opened its doors in the district of Anhangabaú on October 26, 1956, has been a beacon for those who have suffered verbal and physical abuse. UBS Brazil, upon learning of its history, decided to get involved in a deeper way, committing not only to visit it, but also to donate products to improve the daily lives of those who live there.
At this time, the organization is in need of hygiene products, so UBS donated products such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, diapers, among other essential items that we often take for granted, but that can make a difference in the quality of life of those who receive them.
History of the shelter for abused people
The history of Lar Nossa Senhora das Graças is not limited to its inauguration date, its origins began much earlier, in times of monarchy.
In 1840, the home was called Abrigo - Albergue, it was located on Rua do Rosário and served as a shelter for the city's indigent. Years later, it was transformed into what we know today as Lar Nossa Senhora das Graças, located in an area of more than 12,000 m2 in the neighborhood of Anhangabaú, in Jundiaí.
This entity offers institutional shelter services to elderly people as a measure of protection against personal risks, aged 60 years or older, residing in the municipality of Jundiaí.
“Solidarity is love in motion", these words from Isabella Santos, marketing and sales specialist at UBS Brazil, sum up the spirit that guided UBS Brazil to do its bit to help this organization.
The donation of products made by UBS is not only a tangible gesture, but also a reminder that solidarity leaves indelible traces and, when put into action, is a force that can illuminate and change lives.
